Conclusions 18 F-fluoride PET or PET/CT has an excellent diagnostic capacity for the detection of bone metastases and shows advantages when compared with 99m Tc-MDP bone scintigraphy and 18 F-FDG PET/CT.

The higher quality image, increased clinical accuracy, greater convenience to the patient and referring physician, and more efficient use of nuclear medicine resources all indicate the need to consider the use of 18F Sodium Fluoride (NaF) PET for imaging benign and malignant diseases of the skeleton. This pocket book offers up-to-date guidance on the applications and limitations of 18F-NaF-PET/CT in skeletal and cardiovascular diseases, and in oncologic as well as non-oncologic settings.
